Introduction
Hi, we are Nebbie and David Tiromry, owners of Dampier Auto Services, an SME business located at Kingfisher Street, Chinatown. We are family of four originally from East New Britain and Madang and have been residing in Lae since 2022.
Our Business Story
Our business started in June 2024, after David left his 20-years career as a light vehicle auto mechanic at Ela Motors. With his expertise and passion for auto mechanics, he ventured it into entrepreneurship, creating a unique service market in Lae.
Our Services
Our services- we specialize in auto mechanical repairing and servicing, engines rebuilding, and air conditioning services. We used advanced scan and diagnostics tools to ensure top-notch services for our customers.
Challenges and Growth
The challenges we faced is the initial setup of the business, but the AWE Dream Builder Program has been instrumental in teaching us the fundamentals of business ownership. We’ve learned to deal with customers, manage finances, and grow our business.
Lessons Learned
We’ve identified areas for improvement and are working on market strategies, bookkeeping and increasing our online presence to reach more existing and newer customer.
Future Plans
We aim to be successful and stable in five years, with our own workshop and property. We are making adjustments and planning to attract more customers and collaborate with other business owners.

We are so privilege to have the LAE Central Police Women to take part in The Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) Program, the AWE program is designed to equip women with the skills and networks needed to launch and scale business. While the program is open to all eligible women, raising awareness specifically among the policewomen can help them explore entrepreneurial opportunities outside their public services careers.
