LAE LABOUR MOBILITY 20 CANDIDATES LEAVIING FOR JBS MEAT WORKS, BRISBANE AUSTRALIA.
It’s a momentous day here in Lae, were the 20 successful candidates of the Lae Labour Mobility under the PALM Program who are departing for Brisbane, Australia to join JBS Meat Works. The youths have worked so hard to make it to this milestone, and it’s a testament to their dedication and commitment to representing Lae and PNG with pride.
Mrs. Byrne shared a heartfelt message: ‘’this is a life changing step-steady earning, new skills and remittances that help pay school fees, support family’s needs, improving housing and support communities. You’re not just representing yourselves, you’re representing your families, your communities, your province, and PNG. The Australian Ambassador echoed her sentiment: Today’s youths here in Lae shows how PALM delivers practical results-reliable workers for Australian employers, skills and income for Papua New Guineans, and benefits that flows to your families and communities. You’re an Ambassador for PNG make us proud!
The 20 candidates were visibly moved, their faces lit up with excitement and determination. As they said their pledge committing to make member for Lae Open (Hon.DPM John Rosso) and PNG proud. Big responsibility but they seem ready, they sign their Oaths, get their tickets, uniform and visas- all systems go to Brisbane witnessed by their supportive and overjoyed family members.
We also Acknowledging the Lae City Authority for their unwavering support and gifting their presence – this partnership is paving the way for these youths; we are honoured to share this moment with them. The Lae Labor Mobility Program (LLMP), initiated by Hon. John Rosso, Member for Lae, Morobe Province, under the PNG Labour Mobility Unit(PNGLMU) which is the national office of the wider Pacific Australia Labour Mobility Scheme (PALM), is a collaborative effort between the governments of Papua New Guinea and Australia. This Program aims to facilitate the movement of individuals from Lae to Australia and recently New Zealand, allowing them the opportunity to acquire new skills and knowledge. The vision of the esteemed Member for Lae is to empower the people of Lae by providing them with the chance to learn and grow, with the ultimate goal of returning to their communities to make a positive impacts, improve their living standards and overall, contribute to the development of Lae.
Tok Stret Consulting Ltd facilitates this program through Lae City Authority by mobilizing interested individuals who wish to pursue foreign employment opportunities abroad in industries like Aged Care, Meat-works; either Butchery or Cleaning, and Poultry Farming. All these are 4 year contracts.
